CMLife is the student newspaper on-campus. All the work is written by students and it ranges from events that go on throughout campus to editorials.
On occasion they report on political news in regards to Michigan Presidential Primaries or the Model United Nations. However, they exclude news reporting events or situations that happen on campus that have to do with political student organizations. For example, there was no reporting done about the Turning Point USA event where Charlie Kurk was coming to speak. OR the instance where a Racism and Discriminations PART-TIME Professor ripped and threw away flyers advertising the time and place that the CMU republicans were having their weekly meeting. Which was eventually discovered and recording by some CMU Republican members.
I am unaware to why they do not include these breaking news events on campus that students would be interested to read. There would be a multitude of reasons, such as: Wanting to keep the news bipartisan, or not wanting to report on events that could lead the community of mount pleasant or students from CMU to not read their paper or visit their website.
However, as some that thinks these events should be expressed through this medium, I will try to write articals and editorials for CM-Life that tell students about these events and the situations that go on throughout this campus. When something bad happens, someone needs to be help accountable and as it has been for a long time , media has been that outlet and I want to be the person that does that.
The new wave of journalists and reporters starts with people in college. We cant start our new wave with dishonesty, fear, fake news, selecting, filtering or ignoring the real news.
