Being apart of a political party means you are an active member to represent your personal views and the ideologies of the parties.
Before now I was always afraid of joining and being an active member of a politically affiliated club especially on a college campus since the majority of professors and students on the CMU campus have view that differ from my own.
However, over the past 6 months and especially during the quarantine I have thought a lot about expressing my political views and begin my career in politics. The start of that was getting more involved in my CMU republicans RSO (registered student organization) and not only do I feel confident in my choice to join but I have met some very cool and respectable people that have showed me that it is ok to have views and express them.
I say all of this because starting in the 2020 fall semester of my sophomore year I will be the acting first vice president of the CMU republicans in hopes to get myself recognized, meet some like minded people, and to build connections to take into my future. I campaigned and ran against another member on the club and won the election by popular vote.
I hope to make a difference and leave a stamp at CMU but also in the world.
