CMU Students up in Arms Over Online classes.

The coronavirus also known as covid-19 has continued its rampage throughout the United States and the world. What will this mean for CMU and its students?

Central Michigan University President Bob Davies early today sent a CMU wide email explaining that the change from online class — that should’ve ended April 6th — has been extended till the end of the semester.

As someone that attends CMU as a freshman this email and decision instills confidence and reassurance that CMU has a smart, considerate, and competent administration and it could be argued that CMU President Bob Davis is the best president we have ever had.

However, there are some ramifications and student backlash of this decision that unfortunately could not have been avoided due to the situation that the world has been put in. Students have found any platform to speak their mind over the current decision to move over to online classes

Central Michigan University has a twitter page called “CMUconfessions”. This page is a way for people to post and say anything they want anonymously with no sort of repercussions or social isolation. Since this page is anonymous people have been posting there feelings in regards to classes being changed to online classes. These feelings have been completely disregarding the idea that the CMU administration wants to keep its students safe and healthy but also because with the current rate of the coronavirus, no choice.

While some people disagree with what is going on some students understand why

Based off of the time stamp of these tweets a lot has happened and students have still yet to put anything regarding the switch to online classes the rest of the semester.

A common threat within the tweets from “CMUconfessions” other than people expressing their feelings regarding online classes is the advocacy of classes being changed from graded classes (which would effect you GPA) to classes being Credit/No Credit (which would not effect your GPA and only advance your ability to graduate). .

I will continue to post about current feelings, decisions and future regarding the CMU administration and the students that attend Central Michigan University
